About the PE Civil Exam (CBT)
The PE Civil exam is administered by NCEES in a computer-based test (CBT) format across 5 depth modules: Transportation, Water Resources & Environmental, Structural, Geotechnical, and Construction. After the October 2023 transition, candidates choose one depth module and take a 80-question exam over 9 hours (split into morning and afternoon sessions). An open-book PE Civil Reference Handbook is provided digitally.
